In bustling Lagos, surrounded by fellow graduates, I waited anxiously for my interview. My heart raced as I imagined finally landing the job, something I hadn’t even applied for in the five months since graduation. I only had a ‘To Whom It May Concern’ letter. I worried it wouldn’t be good enough compared to my grades. After all, my university journey took seven years instead of five, thanks to strikes and problems. Suddenly, a voice called out, “Next applicant!” A woman stepped out and said, “Owoyemi…”.” “I knew it was my turn! I quickly walked in, handed over my letter, and the interview was over in minutes. Guess what? I got the job! Afterwards, I wondered what that ‘To Whom It May Concern’ letter actually meant. I learned it was a letter that could be used by anyone, like employers, companies, or even your parents, and they should accept it!” “I realized love should be the same way – for everyone! God tells us to love, “To Whom It May Concern.” This means we should love everyone, no matter their skin color, age, what they believe, or how much money they have. There shouldn’t be anyone we can’t love. I read about Margaret Thatcher, a former leader of Britain. She visited a grieving widow. The widow couldn’t remember what Margaret said, but she remembered how Margaret made her feel good! “That was an example of love for everyone, no matter who they were. Love shouldn’t just be for our family or people who can help us. It should be for everyone, ‘To Whom It May Concern!’ Love isn’t just a feeling; it’s more than family connections. The Bible says, ‘We should love one another.'” The Bible says in 1 John 3:16 that God showed his love by dying for us, and we should be willing to do the same for others. It made me smile when new believers said Jesus only died for Christians! Jesus loved and died for everyone in the world – ‘To Whom It May Concern!’ If we’re going to love everyone, then we should make sure our love helps them and makes them happy. Think about kids who don’t have a home or parents. It’s sad to see them struggling and begging. They need better clothes, food, help with their health, school, and a safe place to live. Let’s work together with the Dependent Children Foundation (www.dcc-foundation.org) and show these kids how much we care! The world is currently grappling with some significant difficulties. We’re seeing unrest and conflict in many places, coupled with economic struggles and environmental concerns. These challenges, including health crises and widespread hardship, are impacting people across the globe These problems affect everyone, leaving lasting marks on people around the world. Sadly, they’re especially hard on the African continent, where lack of development makes things even tougher. We also know that women and children are often the ones who suffer the most in these difficult situations, like wars and poverty. Children are left without parents, and they struggle with hunger, sickness, and a lack of things like healthcare, school, and safety. Because of these terrible problems, we can’t just stand by and do nothing. The suffering of children and families everywhere is too upsetting. That’s why we created the Dependent Child Charity Foundation to help.
